IT: Chapter 2

The IT duology is how you make a modern horror classic. All the elements line up perfectly from the writing to the cinematography. If there's any modern horror film you should watch, it's definitely IT

The cinematography in both of these films is PHENOMENAL. I caught myself absorbed in certain shots more than once. Scenes were suitably creepy when they needed to be, even simple color shifts make you feel unease in these films.

Pennywise himself is excellent in both movies. If you thought Tim Curry was great Bill Skarsgard knocks it out of the park in his performance. The movies make you feel like he's a real threat that shouldn't be taken lightly, even if he is a funny clown. The visual effects work wonders in showing just how demented Pennywise can make himself and does a great job at making you feel uncomfortable with his screen presence.

-SPOILERS-

There are a few omissions from the novels (notable examples being the preteen gangbang and the space turtle) but I'm pleased to say they kept in most of the weird Sci-Fi plot elements important to the story. Pennywise does turn into a giant clown spider alien at the very end and there's exposition told about Pennywise coming from space (told through a drug trip).

All in all, I highly recommend both of these films as both are definitely modern horror classics.
